About

Barbora Dohnalová (30.8.1991) Barbora Dohnalová is a painter who found her unique artistic path at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under the guidance of Professor Michael Rittstein, where she studied Painting III. She completed her studies with a master’s degree in 2018, and painting has always been her life’s purpose, with the urge to create constantly present. Her work primarily focuses on acrylic painting on medium and large canvases, but she also engages in illustration and occasionally oil painting. Barbora’s style is characterized by a unique stylization that oscillates between realism and an illustrative aesthetic. A dreamlike atmosphere and delicate emotions are present in each piece, blending nostalgia, feminine softness, and playfulness with surprising details. A key element in her work is also the interplay of light and strong contrasts. Her subject matter varies, ranging from landscapes to interior and architectural paintings, which she enjoys complementing with small supernatural details. In recent years, the human figure has played an increasingly significant role in her work, wher eas during her studies, it appeared only rarely. The choice of colors is always carefully considered to help create a particular atmosphere. Barbora aims to evoke positive emotions in the viewer, drawing them into the scene and encouraging them to reflect on the imagery and dream. She draws inspiration primarily from nature, the sky, clouds, the interplay of light and shadow, and fantasy literature, which shapes her imaginative world.
